  1. Question 1: Differences between the two Americas, as LeAlan Jones sees it:

The 'normal' America is supposed to have life, liberty, prosperity and happiness. In the ghetto, were the African-American lives, is the laws, the language, and the way of living totally different. They are due pain, poverty, stress and anxiety. Fx. as an African-American children (who lives in the ghetto) they have to make day-to-day decisions about whether to go to school, or whether to go on the conner and sell drugs.

Question 4: Why does he repeat the sentence "I hope I survive", and what is the effect? :

He keeps repeat the sentence because he really thinks that every is a fight for surviving. He is hoping, that he can make his life change, and get a good one, instead of the bad life he was born into. The effect of this is very strong, because then you know he really means it. Fx. if he only said it once, then people could think it just was an ironic comment.

  2. Question 1:

When LeAlan Jones takes a look at America, he doesn´t see one, but two countries. The “real” America is a country of opportunities; a place where you can have a nice life, liberty and happiness. The “subnormal” America – the Ghetto – is a place for the African-Americans, where you can´t have a life, like other people have. You’re afraid, angry and poor, and therefore you have to make day-to-day decisions. If you need money, you will go to the corner and sell drugs; if you do have enough, you will probably stay at home or go to the local school. It´s a place without opportunities, and you have to fight for everything.

    Question 3:

LeAlan Jones says that the Americans are at a point of no return. It does mean that the Americans have to do something for the people in “Second America” now, because it´s the only way to get a better country. The do-nothing strategy will never lead to anything good, and America should be a place for all, he thinks. If nothing happens, the system will get worse.
